Scrumptious Sundays!! Oh Please Dulce De Leche Me!

Ok I did it something I didn't I'd do. I wanted to down my fat intake some so... I gave up my lunch time ice cream and replaced it with some sugar free jello pudding snacks (which turns out is a cheaper thing to do anyway). In ice cream I have grown a fond love for caramel flavors, so I thought a good replacement my caramel ice would be the Dulce De Leche pudding.

I peeled off the classic blue aluminum seal which blocked me from the caramely goodness that waited for me inside. On top was a dulce de leche layer which was very rich and gooey (as caramel should be). Beneath it was a nice caramel flavored pudding, thick and shiny. The first words which entered my mind when I tasted this dessert was rich. This is a rich not so bad for you caramely dessert!

At first I was trying to be strategic about how I was eating this layered dessert. Trying to get a bit of both the topping and pudding in eat spoon full, you know trying to be all classy about it. But then something happened and took over my body. I just went crazy and mixed it all up. I have to say I kinda liked it better all mixed up. The flavors were perfectly balanced so each taste bud go the perfect combo sweetness.

Anyway you chose to eat this  delectable golden dessert is good. With only 60 cal and 1 gram of fat Jell-O knocked this outta the park!
Thanks Jell-O!

Scrumptious Sundays Sugar Free Syrup Vs Regular Syrup

You know what my favorite breakfast is? Eggo Waffles and syrup. Yup you can have a waffle breakfast for 220 cals! Did you know that Eggo waffles are only 190 cals for 2 waffles?! It's normally the syrup that makes waffles unhealthy, so why not fix that. There are three pretty good sugar free syrups out there, Cary's, Aunt Jemima and Log Cabin.

Out of all of them Log Cabin has the healthiest stats combined with the best taste. Yes I said taste, you can have sugar free syrup that taste awesome. I always measure out my serviving and did you realize that a 1/4 cup servering is pleantly to bathe my waffles in a nice syrupy goodness and have extra to lick off the plate when I'm done! This syrup may be a bit runny for folks who are use to regular thick syrup but if you can get use the consistency you'll save yourself a ton of calories. Lets take a look at the nutrion info of sugar free vs the regular shall we?

Sugar Free Log Cabin Syrup
Regular Log Cabin Syrup
So you get twice as much syrup to drench your waffles/pancakes in with the sugar free! If you put 1/4 a cup of regular you'd be adding 200 cals to your breakfast instead of 20! That's a whole extra 0! I don't know about you but I'll take a 220 cal breakfast over a 400 cal any day! Do you think you could give up your regular syrup for sugar free?

Scrumptious Sunday! Turkey Hill Cold Churned Strawberry Cheesecake

Losing weight means to make the right choices but you can splurge a little, but when you do make sure it with the right things. Now a days companies light option taste as good as a full fat product. What you don't know about me, the Fitness Mama is that I am obsessed with ice cream! I know I need ice cream therapy, it's sad but true, I have ice cream up to three times a day. What you say? How can you maintain your 115lbs by eating that much ice cream?! Well I do so by portioning it out, picking the right ice creams, working out 5-6 days a week and by eating right the rest of the day! Portion control is key to eating your splurgy (yes splurgy is the new word of the day) foods when trying to lose weight. One of the ice creams I am really into right now (yes I go through ice cream fads ice cream is the new pink!) is Turkey Hill's Light Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream.

When I go for my ice cream I grab my trusty 1/2 cup scoop (this is my baby and I trust her with no one!) and place her in my ice cream bowl. I then proceed to fill her with the cold creamy beautiful ice cream (too much?). I admit I do tend to top off just a tad (so I'm probably getting 140 calories per portion). I then take my ice cream and slowly enjoy every bite.

Turkey Hill's Strawberry Cheesecake is amazing. It is full of chunks of cheesecake and has ribbons of strawberry jelly running through the cream cheese flavored ice cream. The flavors in this ice cream will definitely subside that cheesecake craving you might have and is definitely much healthier that a sliver of the deadly dessert. The fact that this ice cream is is only 120 cals and 3.5 grams of fat per 1/2 cup is fantastic!

If there is an ice cream flavor you'd like me to try for you hit me up!

Scrumptious Sunday! Quaker Chocolate Swirl Chewy Granola Bars Review

Welcome to our regular scrumptious Sunday feature. Every Sunday we will be sharing our yummy recipes and fav low cal snacks with you to help you find yummy things to eat that wont go straight to your hips!

As a general rule for myself I tend to stick with snacks that are under 100 calories. I also tend to lean toward the sweeter snacks as well. Now a days the aisles are full of pre-portioned 100 snack packs. Those are great except if your shopping on a budget. To spend $3.00 or more for only 5 packs isn't the best deal. Sometimes it's better to do some research on nutrition. You might be surprised the price difference in a product where the package doesn't scream 100 calories per portion but will have the same nutrition.

Chewy bars are a great healthy little snack for the middle of the day. With 10 bars in a box and a price tag of $2.50 you can't turn that down. The best part about this affordable snack is that they are normally 100 calories or less, so you are basically getting 5 extra bars for less then the 100 packs!

When I was ready for a snack change for my 3pm snack (yes everyone I have a food schedule) I was looking for something chocolaty. After scoffing at the prices of all the 100 calorie packs I went down the snack aisles of my local Walmart searching for something else. There they were looking at me and my mouth watered, Quaker Chocolate Swirl Chewy Granola Bars. Oh they looked so perfect. Now called me weird, lord knows hubby does all the time, but I love my snack bars cold. So I put them in the fridge as soon as we got home so they'd be perfect for later in the day.

When 3pm rolled around I jumped for excitement to try these. I opened the box and even the wrappers shouted chocolate! "YUM" (wait did I just say yum for a wrapper, anyhoo). I ripped the shiny wrapper  off and examined the pretty swirled white and dark chocolate chips on the top of the cocoa bar. Although I think there could have been a few more, I was pleasantly surprise at how good these bars are. It reminds me a little of cocoa pebbles. I will definitely be buying these again, although I will be keeping my eye out for the mint chocolate ones (OOOOOO mint chocolate).

I'd give these a solid 8/10 only cause I wish there were a few more chips on top or maybe even through out the bar.
