Scrumptious Sundays!!

I know that I haven't done one of these in a while and I promise I have a couple things up my sleeve for the next few months!  So to begin our new debut of Scrumptious Sundays

So what yummy treat do I have for you today?  Something that my hubby actually came across on the hunt for a dinner idea.  Boy did he ever find one that was YUMMMY!!

Oprah's Ultimate Sloppy Joes are just AMAZING!! I was really surprised actually, I even added some minced red bell peppers to which was just GREAT!  I am sure you could tweak this anyway you like but just as is was delightful!

Doesn't that look soooo good??  Trust me it was absolutely amazing and really easy and really really really fast.  So tonight while you mulling over what to make tonight, something maybe low-key so you can snuggle with the kids or hubby, maybe eat with a movie for a sunday movie night w/e it is this is GREAT.

Ingredients
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion , diced
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 5 whole wheat hamburger buns
Directions
Set a heavy-based pot over medium-high heat and add a 3-count of olive oil. Add onions and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until translucent. Add ground turkey, season well with salt and pepper and brown well all over, breaking it up with a wooden spoon—about 7 to 10 minutes. Add ketchup, mustard, cayenne, brown sugar and tomato paste. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes. Finish with a splash of apple cider vinegar and season it once more before serving on toasted whole wheat hamburger buns.
WAAAY better for you with the turkey meat and try to sneak in some more veg like i did with what was on hand, plus my hubby wouldn't notice it cause it was red and he is the pickiest eater in my house lol!  I also used a low sodium ketchup.

Not one breath goes by that I am not happy to be a non-smoker.  With every puff I could feel myself getting more sick.  I wasn't even unhealthy or a heavy smoker but the smoke just put a weight on me.  A weight of tar and ugliness.  Not a day goes by that i miss the smell, it was disgusting.

So why keep being selfish... put out that butt!

Do you smoke?

Ghosts of Posts past!

I wanted to take the time today to highlight some of our past posts.  Some posts that would love some more love!  I, of course, would always return said love :) xoxo

A while ago I took the time to really highlight one of north america's biggest food no-no's; Soda pop.  The things that I learnt from that post has convinced me to never touch the stuff again, quite honestly... not that I really drank it in the first place unless to accompany alcohol or in my heavy high school days.  Soda today is a huge problem and the best defense is education!

Another one of my fav posts is my post on funny faces.  How making these silly faces can honestly help you tighten and tone it, to abolish/prevent that evil gobble neck.  Not many would think that you can exercise these places, but you can... just takes some private embarassment with you and your mirror lol.

What about Erin you ask?? Well one of my fav posts she did was her post on walking.  She really managed to find something great that anyone of any level can do and that is EXACTLY what i like to see.  A dual level kinda thing that is adaptable in many ways to intensify etc etc.

Please feel free to share some of your under appreciated blog posts below and I would love to check them out :).

secret weapon

I want to let as many ppl as possible know about this thing, cause i NEED it to be in stores cause there is no way i can afford these + shipping :(!! especially since I want ONE daily lol!!!

http://www.healthguardwellness.com/aboutus.asp

Feel free to visit show some support and share it with your friends!!

I hope to do a future giveaway with them and i'm waiting to hear back!! Maybe it will be my FIRST giveaway!! OOooOOOOooo

On another note my main blog has been moved to its own domain!  www.mumfection.com!

I hope that this blog would be well on its way down that road, but i find it so hard to keep with one, let alone another.

As to my wieght it has been the same, not one change.  Happy that i haven't gained... kinda sad that with all this nice weather I haven't made it continue to go down.

I am hoping to contact a few companies about sponsoring me with a weight loss program.  No Idea how I will get that done with this blog being kinda slow lately.  But that is my fault.  I need to keep up and smarten up and stop slacking off so badly.

I write a little one day, catch up and then BOOM... another whole week will go by and I wouldn't have done anything.  I have even been trying to focus getting my workouts to work with the kids that I now care for during the day.  Yes that is right, I am running an in home daycare... no wonder I have no time to do anything lol!!

I have been working on kid friendly workouts to try to get the kids involved in them as well as make it easier for me to make sure I get a little workout daily too.  Please let me know if you have great ideas!! So far we are fans of songs with actions and lots of movement like "ring around the rosie" (old school version not the sugar coated one lol), "hokey pokey," and of course "head shoulders knees and toes."  I mean classics and easy to adapt to "work out" movements.  Even "happy as you know it" has great kid work out potential.

But i will touch on this another time.  I will have to... maybe a Vlog will be in order??

Belly Dancing; it's great for ALL women!

When I was younger I did belly dancing, and I LOVED it.  I often think on it and I even do it to exercise a little, you when I'm "cleaning," listening to music I kinda just bust a move and burn a few!

I really wish that I had photos of myself doing it back in the day but unfortunately it was way before the pleasure of me owning a camera lol.  Nonetheless I am here to talk about the many bonus's to trying out belly dancing.

It makes you feel sexy again.  Yes I know not something I had to worry about when I was younger but I happened to be in a class of mixed ages; the oldest of which was 65 years young.  They had a great time and BOY; some of them could really bust a move, putting us younger ducklings to shame.

BURNS!  BOY, I don't think anything has made every inch of my body burn like that in a long time.  Our teacher would just really work us and we'd have a GREAT time doing it!  So what was the harm in having to take a couple days of muscle nursing bubble baths.

[pic]

Increases your flexibility and in record time!  I was the most in-flexible person on the planet then within about a week of these classes I was, all of a sudden, able to touch my toes without screaming or having my body just say: "HELL NO!"

[pic]

Great, for pregnant women too!  The movements in belly dancing can't harm your baby at all, gives you a great NEEDED workout AND prepares your pelvic area for giving birth!  It is even said to make the birthing experience just a little bit easier much the same way walking will.  You can even bring some of the moves, slowed down, into the labor room with you helping you to dilate and get thru contractions.  Also AMAZING for blood flow!

So why not give it a shot??  It is a great calorie burn, a great bunch of fun and I guarantee you will meet some new people and some great new friends!   Once things start settling down in my life here money wise I am hoping to invest in a few classes again, join me???

[Update] run run run as fast as you can!

I have been busy busy!! I am doing daycare again!  I know!  Nuts, so I have been up to my eyes in work on the blogs, blogelina groups, blogging classes, daycare, exercising and what not.  What can I say.  There is only so much time in a day.  So I wanted to show you that I HAVE been active and running around.

running after the boys.
weeding with the boys.
RUN RUN RUN!!
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!!!
Enjoying a sunset on the walk home from a day at the park.
The Moon.
Some more sunset thru the trees.
I can say that I am down 2Lbs since last time!!! HORAY!!! I have been noticing a major difference in how my clothes fit and I am trying to really focus my workouts on my legs and arms right now.  I have been kinda slacking on working my tummy specifically but I do core yoga movements etc, but no pilates for my abs or any crunches.  I find that I am more vulnerable to the kids if I lie down on my back so I have stopped attempting it.  I think I need to just up my Hoola Hooping on my Wii cause that really burns my tummy!!  I also have a birthday on the 27th so I kinda want to tone up a little bit more so I look extra hot in my outfit that I bought for the night.  I have the leggings, still waiting for the "mini-dress."  I also have to remember to take the time to take a pic of myself in my dirty shirty T-shirt to compare how it fits on my body now.  Soon I promise.  I just have to do laundry and bother to put it on and then I have to remember when I have it on.  If i don't do it fresh from the laundry it is kinda cheating lol.  I promise you'll hear from me again!!! xoxoxoxo

Scrumptious Sundays!! Sinless Microwave Popcorn!

Whilst roaming threw the "blogosphere" I came across a diamond in the rough find.  Something that I had never even considered doing, and honestly I should have cause it is brilliant!

This amazing woman managed to share with us homemade microwave popcorn!  YES that is right, the great calorie wise benefits from making your own at home with the convenience we miss from the bag.

Using a brown paper bag and some tape ppl... that is it.  Amazing.
